New Coalition Government initiative has more than 100 major UK businesses signed up to a new initiative that proposes asking for CVs without the name or the school details of candidates in order to remove the risk of discrimination during the application process. Firms pleding include Tesco, barclays and Coco Cola which requires them to recruit “fairly and without discrimination” by using application forms that don’t allow candidates to be screened out due to the school they went to or their ethnicity. Apprenticeship schemes
Autumn 2011, the government announced a new incentive to encourage thousands of small firms that don’t currently employ apprentices to take on a young apprentice aged 16 to 24 . This will support up to 40,000 new Apprenticeships.
You do not have to be a large company to provide a young person with an apprenticeship.

The London Games 2012 Job Opportunities
With millions of visitors descending into London, thousands of employers will need to boost their workforce to accommodate the additional services required. A conservative estimate that over 100,000 jobs will be generated in London.
Adecco is the official jobs agency – recruitment provider for a range of positions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
jobsforthegames.co.uk is a dedicated website will feature a vast array of jobs. Opportunities will range from catering, cleaning, security and administrative support to media, hospitality, tourism, sport, leisure and customer services. Some professional and technical posts will also be available.
Jobs seekers are required to pre-register now in order to have the best chance of securing employment. The first appointments will appear during March 2012. Jobs for The Games is the destination for finding jobs created for and by the London Olympics 2012, and is the only London Games 2012 job site approved by LOCOG.
By the opening of the Games, the London 2012 Olympics will have around 6,000 paid staff, up to 70,000 volunteers and around 100,000 paid contractors. Tens of thousands of contractor opportunities and around 4,000 positions with LOCOG will be available over the next six months.
A large percentage of the posts will be short-term opportunities lasting from April 2012 to the closing of the Games. London 2012 Ceremonies Ltd will also have around 350 posts available.
There will be many opportunities for students. The Summer Jobs of a Lifetime website, run by London 2012′s official recruitment services provider Adecco, will be an important recruitment channel for contractors and allows students to register their interest in working for the Games. Sponsors, suppliers and other businesses seeking additional staff also provide a wide variety of job opportunities.
